Fourth Saturday Gardening at Dharma Gate

Join us in our gardens at Dharma Gate (1910 24th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144) to help care for our precious space. In a joint gathering of sangha family, Mindfulness Community of Puget Sound and Three Treasures Sangha, we gather monthly to pull weeds, water, prune and plant, based on the timing of the year. We can provide gloves and tools or you’re welcome to bring your own. An opportunity to bring mindfulness while you work in the garden. (See here for Service Meditation)

Dharma Gate Work Retreat

 March 29-30, 2025

Our annual 2-day work retreat at DG is our time to spruce up the Center after a long winter.  A great deal of the work will be outside but there are a few things indoors that need attention.  So if you have time to join us for the day(s), or any part thereof, we welcome you!  It can be fun to dig mindfully in the dirt, visit with old friends, and make new ones.  Guidance and food will be provided.

Schedule

8:00 AM Dharma Gate Open with Coffee, Tea and Snacks

8:30 – 9:00 Sitting Meditation

9:00- 9:30 Stretching, Change clothes, orientation to jobs

9:30  Contemplation on gardening as meditation offered by

Madelon Bolling, teacher with Three Treasures Sangha

9:45 – 12:00 Work (Mostly in Silence)

12:00 – 1:00 Lunch and Rest. (Quiet talking allowed) Lunch

(This period is open to the needs of the participants)

Come for both days or just the parts of the retreat that your schedule allows. It would be helpful if you let Kay know when you are coming. Bring tools and gloves if you have favorites.  If you have a project you think needs doing, or one you especially want to focus on, please let us know ahead of time. This is a chance to work mindfully and really feel the sense of community we love and share at Dharma Gate.

Help MCPS & TTS care for Dharma Gate
Join a work-party announcement email list

With a now more permanent state of hybrid practices for both Three Treasures Sangha and Mindfulness Community of Puget Sound, our dear Dharma Gate still needs regular care & maintenance. We’ve experienced a decline in physical attendance at the zendo, so there are fewer available hands for zendo cleaning & maintenance. We are forming an announcement list as a way of sharing work party opportunities, as an experiment to increase participation. We hope, like the pin board in the kitchen at the zendo, this will stir a collective reminder of the work that needs to be done to care for our physical space at Dharma Gate.

Complete this google form with your contact information, interest & experience if you’d like to join us in doing regular work in the gardens, zendo and Dharma Gate facility  (https://forms.gle/fXwdo66FfVaxhKNU7) or reach out to info@mindfulnesspugetsound.org if completing the form is an obstacle.

Kay will send out a work party invitation from time to time, notifying what needs to be done at Dharma Gate, giving you an opportunity to support caring for our Center. You do not need to be a member of either sangha to participate.

Please contact Kay with any questions about the work parties at kayandlarry@gmail.com or Laura with any questions about registering for the google group or completing the google form at info@mindfulnesspugetsound.org.
