Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation
Whether you’re new to meditation or looking to deepen an existing practice, this six-week series offers practical instruction in the foundations of mindfulness meditation. Through guided instruction, sitting and walking meditation, embodied awareness, Dharma reflections, and Dharma sharing, participants will develop a stronger foundation for formal meditation practice while learning to bring mindfulness into everyday life.
You’ll explore posture, breath, embodied (somatic) awareness, sitting and walking meditation, loving-kindness (mettā) practice, and working skillfully with thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations.
The class is open to all experience levels. Participants are welcome to sit on a chair or cushion, stand, lie down, or move gently as needed. Options are offered throughout the series to support diverse bodies, abilities, and learning styles.
Facilitated by members of the Mindfulness Community of Puget Sound (MCPS).
