Wendy Wahlroos Memorial Scholarship Fund
WWMSF was created by our dear Sangha sister and fierce social justice advocate, Wendy Wahlroos, who walked onward on October 16, 2016.
VISION: The MCPS Sangha community is enlivened, nourished and strengthened through the intentional support of diversity.
PURPOSE: To provide scholarship support for mindfulness practice opportunities that will engage and grow a racially and socially diverse MCPS Sangha.
APPLICANT PRIORITY FOCUS: To support the growth and development of racially diverse Sangha members within MCPS. To support emerging leadership of our young adult members (20-40 years old) within MCPS. Non-MCPS applicants meeting either racially diverse or young adult applicant priorities can be considered on an individual basis.
CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIPS: Priority consideration given to MCPS focus population groups: people of color and young adults (under 40 years old) and/or people of color and young adults who are interested in developing a mindfulness practice in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh (TNH).
Applicants can request scholarship assistance to attend MCPS events (with the exception of the MCPS Annual Residential Retreat, which has it’s own scholarship support) or non-MCPS events in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.
AWARD AMOUNTS: Award amounts will be determined by review Committee; and are based on situation and need. There are currently no limits to request amounts, but depending on requests, the full amount may not be funded.
