Reserving Dharma Gate

Calendar, Scheduling, and Reservations: Mindfulness Community of Puget Sound and our sister sangha Three Treasures Sangha jointly own our Practice Center, lovingly called “Dharma Gate,” located at: 1910 24th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98144.

We are happy to offer Dharma Gate for event use to dharma friends. Dharma Gate includes a beautiful meditation garden, remodeled house with zendo (accommodates up to 50 people), kitchen, bathrooms and a garage structure that has been renovated into a library and interview room.

Guidelines for Dharma Gate Use: Dharma Gate is a small sacred space, and therefore outside use is considered for activities with a meditative and/or personal growth focus, or for the ceremonial portion of a wedding or memorial service. The facility can accommodate a maximum of 50 people in the zendo, and priority is given to events involving sangha members or their families and close friends. While stretching or gentle body movement activities may be allowed, vigorous social dancing is not, due to structural issues. Food preparation and service is welcome but we ask that it be vegetarian and that no alcohol be served.

Accessibility: We have wheelchair ramps from the back parking lot into the building and our first floor bathroom is ADA accessible. Dharma Gate strives to use cleaning materials, hand sanitizers, lotions and soaps that are fragrance-free and ecologically friendly. The sanghas that own the building do not use incense and request that other groups that use the facility not use it. We ask groups using the facility to request that people attending events at Dharma Gate avoid the use of personal products and clothing with fragrances on the day of the event.

General Availability: The facility is often available weekdays, some weekday evenings and weekends when we do not have regularly scheduled practice opportunities.

Priority is given to events involving MCPS and TTS sangha members or their families and close friends. Rentals are available to outside groups but they must have an MCPS member that they know who can sponsor them and can be present at the event to open and close the facility. It is a small sacred space and activities should have a meditative and or personal growth focus. Dharma Gate can also be used for the ceremonial portion of a wedding or memorial service. While stretching or gentle body movement activities are welcomed, vigorous social dancing is not, due to structural issues. Food preparation and service is also welcome but we ask that it be vegetarian and that no alcohol be served.

Use Rates: Suggested donation for single event use is $35/hour up to 4 hours; $200 for 6+ hours in any one day, $375 for Saturday and Sunday and $400 for Friday evening thru Sunday. Lower rates will be considered for recurrent use events.
